Why are more products not omri certified?

I have always been curious why more products don't get OMRI certification?
Is it a long or expensive process?
I don't see any of the small local nutrient company's trying to get certified?

I could be wrong but in the past i have asked this question too.
The most common reply i get from nutrient company's is that they would like too but the process takes too long and is too expensive so they never attempt it.
